381-1768406, KATO (N Scale) EMD SD70ACe - Standard DC -- Union Pacific #1996 (Southern Pacific Heritage Scheme, black, orange, red) Product Information: This Kato EMD SD70ACe is based on units in service from coast to coast since the 2004. This standard DC locomotive features a five-pole motor with dual flywheels, directional LED headlights, highly detailed body, wheel profiles for operation on Code 55 and larger rail, great decoration and Kato knuckle couplers. It can be converted to DCC operation by changing out the lighting board with a DCC decoder of your choice (sold separately). Features of the SD70ACe: Directional controlled LED lighting Traction tires Prototype specific details Separately applied add-on parts Optional included add-on plow Dual flywheels Maintenance free can motor AZL AutoLatch™ couplers DCC Ready A little history on the SD70ACe: Although mechanically similar to earlier SD70 units, the SD70ACe rides on a new underframe and uses mostly new sheet metal above the frame. Electrical cables and air lines have been routed beneath the walkways on opposite sides, allowing easier access for maintenance. The SD70ACe uses a cab design which uses rectangular window glass and is externally different from the two cab variations used on earlier SD70M and SD70MAC units. In 2008, EMD standardized the isolated cab on subsequent SD70ACe's after non-isolated cab units were restricted from leading on the BNSF Railway due to excessive cab vibration.
