This standard DC locomotive features a five-pole motor with dual flywheels, directional LED headlights, highly detailed body, wheel profiles for operation on Code 55 and larger rail, great decoration and Kato knuckle couplers.
It can be converted to DCC operation by changing out the lighting board with a DCC decoder of your choice (sold separately). The GE ES44AC will be at home on the head end of your railroad's 2000s and later freight consists.

Features of this E-unit includes a detailed, injection-molded body, five-pole motor with dual flywheels, all-wheel electrical pickup, heavy die cast metal chassis, a lighting control board that can be swapped for a DCC decoder when you're ready (available separately), fine decoration, directional LED headlights and Kato magnetic knuckle couplers. The Kato New York Central 20th Century Limited Nine-Car Passenger Set brings "the most famous train in the world" to your N Scale railroad. This train was typically hauled behind EMD E7 diesel locomotives dressed in the classy NYC Lightning Stripe scheme. The all-sleeper 20th Century Limited carried luxury travelers between New York and Chicago for over 60 years.
This Kato N Scale rendition of the famous train is based on the train as it appeared from 1948 to 1954. The basic nine-car set includes the cars listed below, plus a special "red carpet" rerailer. For a complete 13-car consist add the four-car add-on set at the link below. All cars feature detailed, injection-molded bodies, interior seats, metal wheels with electrical pickups, Kato magnetic knuckle couplers and accurate decoration with car names.
